Default ViM axe warrior

I have come up with a build which uses Victory is Mine for health/energy regeneration, it is a PvE team build. I have not tested it in PvP, but it could be hard to use due to condition removal.
This build is not an "uber" damage build, but has decent damage and self-healing, this way you take some pressure of the monks and help the team with damage/conditions.
So here are the skills :

Rebirth is a random slot, when I go with henchmen i usually swap it for mending/mark of pain/apply poison

Use :
When starting the fight, run in and hit balanced stance, start chopping away(or use skill 8, your choice) and use desperation blow for a nice bit of extra damage, with some luck the target starts bleeding, which gives you even more hp from ViM. When your adrenaline skills charge use disember, axe rake and axe twist, now you can use ViM for around 200 hp and 21 energy, or even more. Your enemy should now have low hp, use thrill of victory for a nice amount of damage and repeat the process.

Weapons :
Now for the weapons.
Basically any axe will do, 15^50 is nice and a low req is very welcome, you could also use a 15% stance since you will be using balanced stance most of the time. A mod that lengthens one of your conditions is nice, but it isn't necissary because they charge pretty fast. As for the shield, it depends on your 8th skill and the area you are going to play in. If u use mending, a +45hp -2 dmg enchanted shield would do. When u play in an area with alot of mesmers/necro's you could use a +60hp -3 dmg while hexed shield. A +45 hp -2 dmg stance shield is always nice.

Here is my weapon set

One more thing.
Some will wonder why I didn't use dolyak signet.
Simple, the armor bonus is nice, but I dont like the decrease of movement speed. When fighting with hench, the mage will AoE a lot, which shatters the mobs, which requires you to follow them.

For questions, contact me in game (Sir Sword Pwnage)
I hope this helps.

I don't wonder why you're not using Dolyak Sig... it sucks.

I'm wondering why you're running such a low Axe Mastery - you really should run at least 14 to get any real damage out of it.

If you switch your Axe and Tactics values around, you'll still get ~50 health per condition, as well as hitting the breakpoint for 6 energy. On top of that, you'll do a hell of a lot more damage. Then you could use Executioner's Strike over Thrill of Victory for a DEFINITE +42 damage, as opposed to a conditional +47. The 5 point difference wouldn't even be noticed, given the much higher base damage.

Mending is a terrible skill, don't use it. I really don't have to explain why... right?

Also, you really oughtta bring more energy skills with ViM! otherwise you're wasting it's potential. If you're only using it for the heal, then take Lion's Comfort or Healing Signet instead, and take a good elite.

Overall... A subpar build with mediocre damage capacity, no IAS, and it verges on recommending Mending. No ty.

And... Don't try this build in PvP, either.

useless mage > ranger hench imo

As for the switch of axe and tactics, lower tactics also means lower damage for desperation blow.
And I didn't suggest mending, I was giving an example of skills.

Lower Axe means lower damage overall. On every swing.

Axe trumps Tactics for damage, regardless of skills.

Unless you have a req. 6 6-28 axe, there is nothing to "test".
And the solo boss farmer version of this uses both desperation blows and dolyak with ViM.

Personally this build doesnt look like it would go through well in FoW/Uw farm or sorrows furnace... But simple questing and missions could be a possible yes to me since I am a warrior and have used ViM every once in a while. but you need more than two conditions on an enemys to rely on for healing. With hammers you can get your foe with tons of conditions (Crippled, blind, deep wound, bleeding) Which IMO would give enough healing power since your tactics would be at 16.

Take - Drunken Blow, Desperation Blow, Soldiers Strike, Deadly Riposte, Watch Yourself, VIM, Balanced Stance, REZ.
Arm yourself with a sundering/elemental sword and tactics based max shield.

Tactics 16
Rest in Sword. 13??

Spam Attacks. and shouts WY and VIM whenever you can. Keep Stance up so you're not falling all other the place.

Come back here and tell us if it worked... enjoy.

Might go and try this myself - foresee problems with mobs but what the heck should be fun.

Nerf.
It used to be nearby enemies, now it's target enemy.

I'd love to test it, but I neither have factions nor nightfall, so the testing is up to you i suppose

I use to use something similar in AB a lot and it had great effect.

I ran the sword version , but also made one for axe cause the skills used are easily change for something similar with another weapon.

For Axe :
Dismember

Axe Twist
Axe Rake
Apply poison
ViM
Healing Signet
Shield Bash
Balanced Stance

Keep in mind that this i used when those Horns of Ox+Falling Spider sins were pretty popular,But its still very useful, i would swap out balanced stance for something else.

Sword Version ( which i think works better )

Sever Artery
Gash
Hamstring
Apply Poison
Vim
Healing Signet
Shield Bash
Balanced Stance

I think this version works better because you have poison and bleeding, for a constant -7 degen

The stats for both were something along the lines 11 Tactics 14 weapon mastery ,then there is strength and wilderness survival,I put most in strength and than whatever is over in wilderness.

At 2 WS the poison last for 5 seconds, but thats really not an issue since you will hit again in that 5 seconds and reapply it, so its only important if you think they will run away and you want the poison to last as long as possible and degen them to death.

*This works well in AB and could work in pve , as long as your not fighting mobs that cant get conditions, but in any real pvp it doesn't work well.*

Edit : To OP you say energy and health regen when you use Vim , but its not regen its just gain.
I always wish it would give you regen cause then it would rock

There isnt much wrong with the build, but i would bring a spammable axe attack instead of axe rake. There isn't much use of crippling in PvE. If you want to keep the condition spamming, keep the rez slot and put apply poison in place of axe rake, but make sure you have gladiator's armor if you do.
